The West of England Aerospace Forum’s Annual Gala Dinner took place on 28th November 2018 at the Bristol Marriott City Centre Hotel.
The evening saw around 300 members of the south west Aerospace and Defence industry congregate to network and enjoy the premier black tie event.
A highlight for many that attended was an exciting and enlightening speech from Olympic Gold Medallist Amy Williams MBE. Her explanation of her rocky journey to the Olympic games captured everyone and gave them a glimpse into her world of hard work, dedication and sheer determination. Somewhat familiar to the industry of Aerospace and Defence, she shared the detailed efforts that were made to achieve marginal gains. Amy and her team engineered the most acute of changes to her sled, resulting in nano second time improvements that ultimately helped her achieve her gold medal.
The night also featured an informative speech from Leonardo Helicopter’s Andrew Cowdery, Head of Government Affairs, along with some truly heartfelt stories from the chosen charities Prostate Cancer UK and Children’s Hospice South West. Lead by MC David Sharpe the evening was thoroughly entertaining.
With the generosity of all those in attendance WEAF were able to raise £1,800 each for Prostate Cancer UK and the Children’s Hospice South West.
