Dame Janet Trotter, the Lord-Lieutenant of the County of Gloucestershire, yesterday (8 July 2015) formally presented Bristol-based Third Dimension with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.
Third Dimension has already been recognised for its export success of its ergonomic profile measurement, GapGun system. This includes a recent win in the Outstanding Export category in the annual EEF Awards. They were also described as a"champion for exports" by the judges of the South West Business Insider awards where the company won the regional Export category.
These awards are a result of exponential increases in overseas sales in recent years. In 2012 exports accounted for 64% of total sales, and this has increased to 84% this year; and exports have grown five-fold in the past 6 years.
Peter Marchbank, CEO at Third Dimension said: “This is a great day for Third Dimension and we are celebrating this award, which we have achieved thanks to the loyalty of our customers and partners around the globe, the hard work of our staff and a fantastic product in the GapGun.”

Dame Janet Trotter said: “Queens Awards for Enterprise are the Oscars of the business world. They are awarded each year to about 150 UK businesses nationwide. It is a delight for me to be visiting Third Dimension in 2015 to acknowledge their outstanding record over recent years. The senior team and the staff team are to be congratulated on this special achievement.”
Third Dimension exports to over 25 countries worldwide with local support provided by its network of distributors. They also work with leading multinational companies such as Airbus, Volkswagen, Lockheed, Mitsubishi and Embraer.
The awards, made annually by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, are only given for the highest levels of excellence demonstrated in each category.
The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious accolades for businesses and individuals in the United Kingdom. The entry process is rigorous and highly competitive, with a success rate of around 20% each year.
To be awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade, a company must show a substantial and sustained increase in export earnings over three consecutive 12-month periods, to a level which is outstanding for the products and services concerned, and for the size of the organisation.
