KYOCERA SGS to support 2D CNC Open House at new Hinckley Technical Centre

KYOCERA SGS is providing tooling and technical support for demonstrations of multi-axis machining at an Open House to be held by 2D CNC Machinery at its new technical centre inHinckley on 29th and 30th November. The demonstrations will show five-axis machining of two aluminium parts, an impeller and part of a mould for a mudguard for a motorbike.  Both examples will use tooling from the KYOCERA SGS S-Carb range of high-performance cutters. The S-Carb range has been developed for aggressive machining of aluminium and other non-ferrous materials, where a high rate of material removal is required.  The special flute design manages effectively the large quantities of chips produced at high feed rates, while a circular land stabilises the tools during cutting to give an excellent surface finish.
 
The range includes long-reach, corner-radius and neck options, meaning that there is an S-Carb option for just about every application. “Working with KYOCERA SGS and our other partner companies allows us to demonstrate the many different aspects of five-axis machining, from programming through tooling and workholding, as well as showing the capabilities of our OKK machines,” said 2D CNC Machinery Director, David Holden.  “The Open House will also feature a Wele vertical machining centre,” he added.  Representatives from the 2D CNC Machinery portfolio, including Mitsui Seiki cells and systems, Reiden five-axis machines and Fermat machining centres will also be available for discussions.
