Action Groups

WEAF has been working in the background on special action groups to support the feedback from our members.

Introducing the Workforce and Skills Action Group

The Workforce and Skills Action Group, led by the WEAF Board of Directors, has been established to tackle the skills shortage in the aerospace industry and ensure businesses can attract and retain the talent they need.

This action-focused initiative works directly with WEAF members to address recruitment challenges and skills development in the South West.

Key Objectives

  • Support WEAF members in securing and retaining a skilled workforce including signposting to relevant organisations that can provide additional guidance.
  • Strengthen engagement between WEAF members and the wider skills landscape.
  • Develop short-term and long-term actions to support skills growth, STEM initiatives, and workforce planning.
  • Facilitate collaboration between businesses, educators, and policymakers.
  • Identify key areas where WEAF can take direct action, form partnerships, or bridge gaps in workforce development.

A skilled workforce is essential to maintaining competitiveness in aerospace. WEAF is committed to creating real solutions that support recruitment, training, and retention across the industry.
