The multinational aerospace engineering firm is taking part in the development of the initiative FSP20 (Future Vision Testing System 2020), which aims to implement new ground testing systems for aircraft in order to reduce implementation time and make them more efficient and environmentally-friendly.
The project is being developed together with Airbus Defence & Space and the Andalusian company MDU. The total budget is 7.5 million euros, co-financed by the ERDF-Innterconecta Programme, within Junta de Andalucía, and the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI).
The purpose of FSP20 is to establish a technological leadership in the field of ground testing systems for aircraft.
Works are focusing on the optimization of systems for functional tests applied during the assembly process to the Airbus Defence & Space aircraft at its plant in San Pablo (Sevilla), such as the A400M or CN235 and C295.
AERTEC Solutions’ broad experience and know-how include engineering services for aerospace systems and manufacturing of test benches and systems, areas in which the company concentrates an annual business volume of over €3 million and works for major aerospace programmes such as the A400M, Eurofighter, A330 or A350 MRTT.
25th July, 2014-. AERTEC Solutions, multinational engineering and consulting firm specializing in the aerospace and airport industry, involved in major aerospace programmes, is taking part in an innovative project aimed at developing new technologies related to ground testing systems for aircraft with the objective of optimizing this type of testing to make them more efficient and sustainable. The goal of this initiative, named FSP20 (Future Vision 2020 Test System), is to establish a technological leadership in the field of ground testing systems for aircraft.
AERTEC Solutions participates in this R&D project together with Airbus Defence & Space and the Andalusian firm MDU. The project has a total budget of 7.5 million euros, supported by the companies, the ERDF-Innterconecta Programme, within Junta de Andalucía, and the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI).
"Works are focusing on the optimization of systems for the functional tests carried out during the manufacturing process of the Airbus Defence & Space aircraft at its plant in San Pablo (Sevilla), such as the A400M and C295 and CN235; from electrical systems and avionics, and power plant, to the fuel system, "said Pedro Pablo Sánchez, director of Innovation at AERTEC Solutions.
The project is divided into four different blocks: miniaturization of the hardware test so reliable tests of shorter duration and system auto diagnosis can be undertaken; integration of software and ground testing functions into the aircraft systems; optimization of the methodology and the software test to make it more efficient and reduce engineers’ work time; and finally, configuration of the entire testing system to make it more environmentally-friendly, including responsible use of energetic resources.
AERTEC Solutions participates in the project through its technological subsidiary, which recently participated in a workshop held at the Airbus Defence & Space plant in Sevilla to discuss the status of the investigation. This workshop enabled all the players involved in the project, including the three partners and a variety of research centres which are collaborating in the initiative, to review the work done in the last year, to share the knowledge of the results and to align efforts to realise the project’s final objectives to be achieved in the last quarter of 2014.
"The participation of AERTEC Solutions in FSP20 and its commitment to innovation will encourage the firm’s leadership in engineering and capacity to provide aerospace test systems, in which the company began working more than 10 years ago with the incipient A400M" said Pedro Pablo Sanchez. In this case, the company brings its expertise to the entire industrial cycle of an aircraft providing engineering services to support industrialization in the control and management of aerospace manufacturing programmes, in the design and manufacturing of test benches and in the implementation of IT based solutions for the control of the plant.
Solid experience in engineering systems
AERTEC solutions’ broad experience and know-how include engineering services for aerospace systems and manufacturing of test benches and systems, areas in which the company concentrates an annual business volume of over €3 million and to which it dedicates one of the Europe’s most important professional teams in terms of number, capacity and experience in Europe.
In this activity, the company’s services involve system engineering for functional tests of aircraft (i.e. determining the best way to performance manufacturing test, flight test and maintenance) as well as test system engineering (i.e. determining the devices to performance functional probes). In this area, the experience of the company reaches important programmes such as A400M, Eurofighter, MRTT, A350…
The multinational has also gone a step further and has managed to strengthen and diversify its business portfolio with the addition of capabilities and technologies for the design and development of aerospace and defense on-board systems after several years of thorough R&D work. "We are responsible for specifying, developing, manufacturing and supporting aerospace systems, as well as creating on-board software to be integrated together with automated testing equipment and maintenance into civil and military aircraft and unmanned aerial systems (UAVs / RPAS)" explains Pedro Becerra, aerospace corporate director at Aertec Solutions.
In engineering systems and test benches, AERTEC Solutions has a wealth experience derived from working for customers such as Airbus, Thales, Embraer or Agusta Westland. The company’s goal is to strengthen this line of business outside Spain, projecting its expertise in other key European markets like the UK, France or Germany, where it has already developed projects or has a stable presence, or in other emerging regions such as Latin America.
AERTEC Solutions is a global engineering and consultancy firm specializing in airports, air transport and aerospace with projects in 19 countries across 5 continents, with references in more than 70 international and presence in the largest aerospace programmes worldwide. It has offices in Spain, UK, France, Portugal and Morocco, and a workforce of over 350 experts in aviation and airports.
