The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is inviting innovative proposals from industry that can transform or disrupt UK Defence capabilities. The project must focus on ideas that will have a positive impact on military influence and effectiveness.
The initiative seeks a plan for implementation and scalability within a three-year period. The closing date is Tuesday 29th April.
Key proposal requirements:
- Innovation: Present new ways for achieving existing defence outcomes more efficiently and effectively.
- Technology Demonstrator: Deliver a prototype or model at Technology Readiness Level 6 or 7, limited scale, user-tested, in a relevant environment.
- Project Duration: No minimum but ideally 12-18 months and not exceeding 24 months.
- Budget: Expectations are around £200,000-£300,000. Total cost should not exceed £350,000.
- Impact: Provide evidence of the proposed approach’s impact within the defence sector.
- Plan outcomes: Show results within three-year post project completion.
- Defence: Must be able to state justification for defence funding.
In short, proposals should not:
- Overlap with ongoing DASA competitions.
- Have a TRL lower than 6 or higher than 7 at project completion.
- Focus solely on product development or consulting without a view on future innovation.
DASA emphasises the need for a clear defence application and justification for funding the innovation.
