Kuehne+Nagel help bring Leonardo’s Single Site Logistics Hub to life
The extended enterprise team of Leonardo, Kuehne + Nagel, Graftongate and GMI Construction have worked collaboratively to achieve this significant milestone and deliver a vision that was born more than 4-years ago. As the construction team hand the baton to the Leonardo and Kuehne + Nagel Transition team, they start the real work of turning the vision into an operational reality. Kuehne and Nagel will complete the fit-out and enter the transition phase of this state-of-the-art facility.
Richard Smith, Kuehne+Nagel Aerospace Director commented:
“This is another fantastic example of the strong collaborative relationship that the Kuehne+Nagel team have developed with Leonardo Helicopters. The potential of this project has only been fully realised thanks to the close working relationship and shared strategic vision with Leonardo to drive change into supply chain.”
The Kuehne + Nagel team have completed a number of innovative projects to drive change in Leonardo’s Supply Chain with particular focus on improving the tracking and visibility of urgent ‘aircraft on ground’ (AOG) parts via the use of dynamic dashboard, productivity reporting, live GPS tracking and automated express packing systems.
Leonardo are now marking the practical completion of their new Single-Site Logistics Hub in Yeovil, Somerset. This new single-site logistics facility demonstrates Leonardo’s long-term commitment to Somerset, the South West and to its customers. It also demonstrates the importance of key industry partnerships through the vital collaboration.
Jerry Prideaux, Leonardo’s Supplier Development Manager said:
“This is a a great example of what can be achieved between customer and supplier when both understand the importance of meaningful collaboration. The dedication and hard work put into this project are commendable, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on Leonardo’s operations.”
The site will be operated under a ten-year commercial contract and will service the Yeovil production facilities and provide spares support for the global fleet of rotary aircraft built at Leonardo’s site in Yeovil – the UK’s only onshore helicopter manufacturer – and support the management of production tooling.
